All about my idea for my current research project.
The idea for my current research came to me during the final semester of my MSc. I genuinely enjoyed the entire process of working on my thesis, particularly exploring sustainable architecture and the design of tall residential buildings that enhance the quality of life for their residents. By the time I submitted my thesis, I knew I wanted to continue working in this area
.I still remember handing in my final thesis and telling my professor, who was also my supervisor at the time, that I wished to pursue a PhD and further explore the same research field. He was very encouraging, expressed that he was pleased to hear this, and guided me on how to develop a strong research proposal to be considered for a PhD.
I was already familiar with my current supervisor, as he had supervised my MSc thesis and taught several of my classes. This familiarity with both my research topic and his working style was a major advantage. He also introduced me to my second supervisor, which made the transition into my PhD journey smooth and comfortable.
Tips for Future Research Students
I would say it’s essential to understand and love your research area. A PhD requires a great deal of hard work and determination. The key is consistency, and that becomes much easier if you are genuinely passionate about your topic and believe it will make a meaningful contribution to academia.
Another tip is to seek help when needed. Don’t hesitate to ask for guidance. Building strong research skills - such as analysis, critical evaluation, communication, and presenting findings -takes time and support. Therefore, make use of the resources available at the university. º£½ÇÉçÇø offers some excellent resources, including workshops (both in-person and online) through the library. These sessions are incredibly useful for enhancing your skills and staying on track, covering topics such as dissertation writing, academic writing styles, formatting, developing research questions, presenting your findings, and more.
All the best,
